The Operations Department is a very Fast Paced, Driven environment.
A new candidate will come into the company as an operations trainee and then be moved into one of the following departments.
Load Planning- Someone who is very detail oriented, will be figuring out how to get Covenant's trucks to the ending destination the most cost effective and quickest way possible. These candidates must be very strong numerically and feel comfortable working with time zones and transit times. Also, the focus on scheduling and must be able to problem solve quickly
2. Fleet Management- Fleet Managers will be responsible for working in teams of two. One will be the Fleet Advocate which is responsible for managing and building the relationship with the drivers and the other will be the Fleet Engineer which is responsible for all logistics and planning the drivers routes each week. Together, the Fleet Advocate and Fleet Engineer will be responsible for and take care of 100+ drivers. Drivers call in with issues or questions and the Fleet Advocates & Engineers will help resolve these issues in a very urgent and timely manner. It is important that Fleet Advocates keep a great relationship with their drivers in order to keep them happy and wanting to stay with Covenant. Fleet Managers are the main point of contact between Drivers and Covenant so they must be prepared to help with any situation including: pay, time off, CDL renewals, education information on trucking. They must take care of their drivers!
3. Account Management- Work with sales and directly responsible for help building and keeping a strong relationship with the transportation clients. Account Managers work with Planners and Fleet Managers to insure the best possible service is provided for there clients. Account Managers get acquainted with the trucking industry and understand the needs for the company
Customer Service or similar background that deals with clients (restaurants, etc.)
